From June 6 – 10 VIENNA DESIGN WEEK presents Austrian design by Mark Brown, breadedEscalope, Marco Dessi, Patrycja Domanska & Felix Gieselmann, feinedinge / Sandra Haischberger, George Wanker Industrial Design, Kiska, March Well, mischer’traxler, Robert Ruef, Vandasye, White Elephant and Sebastian Zachl & Clemens Hanserl at the DMY International Design Festival Berlin.
For this presentation – “The Sound of Music – Voices of Austrian Design” – at Tempelhof Airport, the White Elephant DesignLab stages this year’s VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Embassy as an oversized, interactive musical instrument that brings contemporary design products to life. The objects range from experimental projects to Industrial design. After 2008, 2009 and 2010, it is the fourth time that the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Embassy is invited by the DMY festival partners.
The VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is represented throughout the year by Tulga Beyerle and Lilli Hollein as ambassadors of Austrian design culture at international festivals, trade events and shows.
After the DMY in Berlin, the opening of the exhibition curated by the directors of “A Taste of Austrian Design and Architecture” on behalf of Österreich Werbung will be take place in September in Stockholm. Afterwards, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK presents the “World Design Capital 2012” in Helsinki, the exhibition “Vienna City plant. Design Engaging the City” in cooperation with the MAK in Vienna. The show is curated by the British design expert Sophie Lovell, of the Dutch design studio Makkink & Bey and focuses on the successful festival format Passionswege. In October, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Embassy will open at the Design and Fashion Week Designblok in Prague.
